Two accidents in two days

A young Tenterfield man is in Tamworth Base Hospital with spinal and head injuries following a single vehicle accident on the Sunnyside Loop Road on Monday night.

The Tamworth-based Westpac rescue helicopter transported the man to the hospital yesterday after he was stabilised at Tenterfield PAM Hospital overnight. It is understood the man’s utility left the road, rolled and collided with some trees and that he was not found until two hours later.

Yesterday morning emergency services rushed to the intersection of Rouse and Miles Street after a car failed to stop travelling east and collided with a northbound vehicle.

A blue hatchback and silver Ford Falcon sedan driven by local women were involved in the crash. Both drivers were transported from the scene by ambulance.

The driver of the blue vehicle remained inside the car for 20 minutes as paramedics attended to her.

Police, the NSW Fire Brigade and SES assisted with cleaning up the wreckage.

A 50 metre section of Rouse street was temporarily closed to traffic during the clean up with heavy vehicles and passenger cars diverted off the highway and onto side streets.
