They were the team to beat and Inglewood proved too strong for the Tenterfield Tigers on the weekend, winning the match 32-14.
The Tigers were off to a strong start in the first half of the game, putting the pressure on Inglewood and finishing four points behind at the break.
The second half proved to be a tough challenge for the Tigers’ defence with players late to move up off the line, leaving the opposition with too much ball time.
Tigers coach Pete Townes was happy with the way the forwards played up against what he deemed the “best side in the comp” this year.
“They didn’t shut down the second phase plays,” Coach Townes said.
“The attack was there and they scored three tries.”
Player of the match went to Mathew Fletcher with Geoff Swan putting in a great effort at five eight.
The Tigers are now placed in fourth position with next week’s showdown being between Tenterfield and Stanthorpe. Coach Townes is going to be focusing on sorting out the Tiger defence for the upcoming game.
The game will be at home next Saturday starting at 2.30pm.
